We are excited to share a major milestone in Valorwood’s development. After months of focused iteration, testing, and refinement, Alpha Phase Two is now complete.
This phase has been a long time coming and marks a significant step forward for the project.
Alpha Phase Two – What’s New
Over the past development cycle, our focus has been stability, polish, and visual identity. Thanks to extensive in-house playtesting, we were able to identify and resolve a large number of issues across gameplay systems and world interactions. Many long-standing bugs reported during internal testing have now been fully addressed, resulting in a far more stable and consistent experience.
One of the most noticeable improvements comes from a major overhaul of the world’s weather and sky post-processing systems. Lighting, atmospheric depth, and weather transitions have been reworked to give the Overworld a stronger sense of scale, mood, and time-of-day variation. The world now feels more alive, more dynamic, and visually striking, with environments that truly pop.
We have also added new visual effects to magic spell casting, introducing subtle but impactful enhancements that make combat and exploration feel more tactile and satisfying. Spell impacts, casting feedback, and ambient effects now better communicate power and intent without overwhelming the player.
Transitioning from Pre-Production to Production
With Alpha Phase Two complete, Valorwood is officially moving from pre-production into full production.
This transition represents a shift in focus from foundational systems and experimentation toward scalability, performance, and feature depth. Production will be where Valorwood begins to fully realize its long-term vision as a large-scale, systemic open-world experience.
What Production Will Focus On
The upcoming production cycle will include several major development pillars:
Large-Scale World Optimisation: We will be introducing world partitioning and undertaking a comprehensive optimisation pass to support expansive Overworld environments while maintaining performance across a wide range of hardware.
Audio and SFX Overhaul: A full sound design pass is planned, including environmental audio, combat feedback, ambient world sounds, and improved spatial audio to enhance immersion.
Character and Enemy Overhaul: Core characters and enemies will undergo remodeling and reanimation. Alongside this, we are planning a new combat system designed to feel more responsive, expressive, and strategically engaging.
Companions: Companion characters will begin to enter development, forming a key part of exploration, combat, and world storytelling.
Overworld Expansion: We will be introducing new NPCs, points of interest, and world interactions to further populate and enrich the Overworld.
Farming and Fishing Systems: New gameplay loops focused on farming and fishing are planned, adding depth, progression, and moments of calm alongside adventure.
Controller and Steam Deck Support: Native controller support and Steam Deck compatibility will be implemented to ensure Valorwood feels great to play across multiple input methods and platforms.
Looking Ahead
Completing Alpha Phase Two has given us a stronger, more confident foundation than ever before.
The game is now visually richer, mechanically more stable, and technically prepared for the demands of large-scale production.
As we move forward, development updates will begin to showcase deeper systems, larger environments, and more of the world and characters that define Valorwood.
Thank you for continuing to follow the journey. The next phase is where everything truly starts to come together.
